GMO Flower

Not really.   What is the goal?  The flower industry is lucrative.  I could use some money.  Every movement has an effect.  How do we prioritize?  Short term vs. long term consequences.6-25-14

Detail

I am showing a detail of a painting that I’m working on.  It’s acrylic on gessoed paper.  I am also using latex paint, the cute samples that Lowes is putting out each season.  I’m liking this one, the way that the paint is lively.Ravens--detail

Spring

I’ve been photographing the spring blooms.  They are just a starting point for my paintings.  I did this painting two years ago, but the azaleas look similar every year.  A painting is Yellow-Flame-Azalea an effort to recognize a moment in the passage.

Tangled Web

This painting if of a Cereus, an outrageous red bloom.  A flower that is about 8 inches across.  I may not have captured the light coming through the leaves, but I did showCereus-with-grid a human imposition on nature, the grid pattern.  This painting is currently on display at Art On Depot.  The tangled web was that my website was down last night as Lunar Pages had technical difficulties.  We can ignore nature and our environment, but when it doesn’t work, we will be scrambling.

Gallery Support

Thanks to Cathey Bolton, owner of Art on Depot, who represents me.  We popped into the gallery today because Donna, Gregg’s mom was visiting.  She believes it is the best gallery in Waynesville, and I agree!  Cathey made my day by asking to buy this painting of mine!  We are hoping for a good season of art sales through her gallery!Flowers in Fog

Globally

Woodpeckers are all over the world, but near trees with bugs, not cities with concrete.  Where do paintings exist?

Studio visit

I had a wonderful time yesterday visiting Cori Saraceni in her studio.  We sparked ideas off of each other.  She was frustrated that I don’t show details of my work.  I had never thought of it!  So this is “Hurricane Sandy” and the detail is her mouth.  This piece is collage on plywood.  The perfectly round high grade plywood is being sold by the Waynesville, NC, Hurricane SandyDetail of "Hurricane Sandy" Habitat Restore.
