Iris

This is for the Master Gardner’s show.  I’m getting better at acrylics.12-30-11

Acrylic washes

I am impressed with the color subtlety from these washes.  Some of the paints are murky and don’t make good washes, but this red did.12-21-11

paper

This is one of the photos from the Master Gardners.  HCAC is hosting a show of artworks based on various gardens.  I started this on gessoed paper as a sketch.  The washes are interesting.  I’m using acrylics, which I still contend with.12-15-11

Grids

The QR codes are grid, as are the crossword puzzles I do every day.  A grid is a human imposition on nature.  The white squares are mat board, one inch squares, glued to the painting.  We will see where we go from here!11-15-11

Acrylics, still

I’m starting to handle acrylics like I do oils.  At first I tried to use a wet brush, and all I got were thin washes.  I bought these canvases at Big Lots, thinking they were cheap, but one is a parallelagram, so no value.11-10-11
