Latex paints

Much of this painting was done with house paint samples.  They are creamy and fun to work with.

Black corrugated plastic board

You know the yard signs for realtors and politicos?  This is the same material, only black.  The paint sticks okay, but scratches off easily.  I’ve used latex paint samples from Lowes, dripped enamel, gold craft paint and some acrylics.  This is a step in the ongoing Eye Wonder series.1-20-14

Recyled plastic sign board

I primed this plastic sign board.  You can see how the brush skipped across the corrugations.  The paint doesn’t stick perfectly, but this was a stab at loosening up after the Eye Wonder series.  The self portrait was pretty straight forward, but the addition of the enamel drips is working nicely.12-30-13

The week that was.

Last Wed. I ended up in the Emergency Room.  After 3 1/2 days in the hospital, I missed the Fines Creek Bluegrass Jam, and I have to raise money to pay my deductible and other expenses.  Thank goodness Gregg’s insurance covers most of my costs.  I will be hosting an open house/ Christmas sale on Sunday, Sept. 22 from 1-5pm at my studio at 190 Fines Creek Rd.  I have notecards, and prints, as well as originals of all sizes.  I also welcome any appointments!  My prognosis is good, an autoimmune reaction to a virus which can be treated with steroids.What-the-hell-happened

commissions

I accepted this commission with reservations.  The ceramic frog was a gift, and it needs a setting.  The lily pad was a fun time to play with paint.

Yesterday, by happenstance, an artist visited my studio.  He liked this self portrait with small mirrors.6-25-13a6-25-13b6-25-13d

What the Hell Happened?

I got blindsided today.  The brakes went out on the truck.  Not dangerous, just a hassle and cost.  Today it’s too cold to sit in the wild flowers, but the idea is the same.4-12-13

Eye Wonder?

Good day today.  Sometimes the tide is coming in, and sometimes it’s going out.  These washed in today.  This is from a series, called, Eye Wonder?4-2-13bEye Wonder #194-2-13c4-2-13d

Congrats to HCC Arts Building

I’ts snowing, so I didn’t make it to the dedication of the new arts building.  It is LEEDs certified, the highest level of green building technology.  Cori Saraceni is part of the opening show, and I missed her too.  I’ve been working on a series of enamel drip drawings of females with glasses.  Can’t really call them self portraits.  Here are a couple.  I think they are interesting.3-1-13a3-1-13b

Repurpose an arts magazine

The Laurel of Asheville is having a contest of artists repurposing their magazine.  I did the line work by dripping enamel.  The picture of the eye was perfect.  The lips are the top of a Valentine, from their Feb. issue.2-18-13

NoHa is over

I just got back into my blog.  Something had hijacked it, but Forrest fixed it.  I picked up my work from Gallery 86 Sunday.  I wish I’d sold something, but it was a creative body of work.  I used a lot more collage than ever before.  I was let down, but I will go back to the Muses.   I threw in a self portrait.
