I have put aside New Perspective until I get a new perspective. It has been a challenging painting. I may jinx this one, but it has been much smoother so far. The title is Don’t Be Disappointed. We have been trying to sell part of our property. We have had several offers that have fallen through. I have mixed feelings. This line of encouragement is that things change. As an artist I celebrate change. But my old crab persona does not.
Gravity
There are so many forces working on or against us. I started this painting on the ground, to defy the force of gravity. But my knees didn’t like the bending and leaning. So it’s back on the easel. This is an early stage.
Mass Shooting Shame
The flags have been at half staff for most of this year. It’s an unusual day to see them waving proudly.
Not The GOP of my Father
Buzzards.
Separation
This idea started as a protest of separating children from their families, as a law enforcement tool. But there is a giant Balsam fir in the middle, the kind that are dying out in WNC. So your guess is as good as mine. It is a painting not a representation.
Monarch’s gathering
House paint
I’m enamored of the paint samples at Lowe’s. They change every season. Donna gives me coupons, so mostly I don’t buy them. I had these boxes, and the jars fit in them nicely.
I’m making a color chart, of all of the acrylic and latex paint that I have accumulated since quitting oils. It’s quite a range, and some are surprising. I had a huge array of oils, but since ITP, I’m staying away from the solvents. The skills of using acrylics are different from oils, and I get frustrated sometimes. And sometimes we make something rocking!
Eye Wonder continues
Before I went into the hospital, I had experimented with dripping words. Because of those starts, I had something to work on today, instead of trying to start flat footed. I think this may work into a handmade greeting card. Save the date, Sun. Sept. 22 for my art sale! Any proceeds will go to pay my medical bills. Thanks!
Eye Wonder is a series about …eyes. No, really, it’s about painting. But eyes are mesmerizing. And easy for people to enter into an abstract painting.
Truth in January
I am painting these flame azaleas from a photo. Now it’s cold, wet, and dark, what was it like when this photo was taken, and it was the height of blooming season? What is the truth about a garden?
