These round pieces of plywood come from our local Restore. I’m interested in painting a round flower on a round ground. May be too hokey.
Whole Bloomin’ Thing
I’m working on a series of small works on paper for the fair. They will be affordable, so come by and pick one. May 11, in front of Art on Depot.
Three of a kind
I’m doing series of small paintings from previous big ones. Maybe I can lure people in with a small version, at the street fair, The Whole Bloomin’ Thing.
What the Hell Happened?
I got blindsided today. The brakes went out on the truck. Not dangerous, just a hassle and cost. Today it’s too cold to sit in the wild flowers, but the idea is the same.
More log cabins
These are some production pieces slated for Art on Depot. The drawing is done with enamel paint, flowing from a bamboo skewer. The pastels enhance the atmosphere and season.
Not spring yet.
We are getting snow tonight. But someday, there will be flowers. These are imagined tulips.
Erato
The Modern Muse Erato. I imagine her as source of life, not a sex worker. If her job is repurposed, her materials are also. From the Waynesville Habitat Restore, copper pipe legs, brass lamp fittings, a lovely dress from a dryer hose, her face on a round of clear plywood, and her music stand skeleton. Is this art, or just big girl dolls? This is a work in progress, so don’t be too hard on either one of us. If we can’t laugh, then we should quit.
Repurpose an arts magazine
The Laurel of Asheville is having a contest of artists repurposing their magazine. I did the line work by dripping enamel. The picture of the eye was perfect. The lips are the top of a Valentine, from their Feb. issue.
A square muse
Most of the Modern Muse series have been on round pieces of plywood. This one, unnamed at this time, snuck in. The squares refer to QR codes.
NoHa is over
I just got back into my blog. Something had hijacked it, but Forrest fixed it. I picked up my work from Gallery 86 Sunday. I wish I’d sold something, but it was a creative body of work. I used a lot more collage than ever before. I was let down, but I will go back to the Muses. I threw in a self portrait.
