Thanks to Cathey Bolton, owner of Art on Depot, who represents me. We popped into the gallery today because Donna, Gregg’s mom was visiting. She believes it is the best gallery in Waynesville, and I agree! Cathey made my day by asking to buy this painting of mine! We are hoping for a good season of art sales through her gallery!
What is real?
We are surrounded by images, many of them electronic. Do you stop and think about the story that a picture is telling? Take time to ask what is real.
Globally
Woodpeckers are all over the world, but near trees with bugs, not cities with concrete. Where do paintings exist?
Senses
What happens when you ignore your senses? Instead of watching an electronic device, use your sense of sight to look around you. What is going on in nature around you? More trees, or less? Other senses. Is your environment quieter and peaceful, or noisier and more stressful. Can you affect anything?
New work at Art on Depot
This painting of a sunflower just went to Art on Depot. See it tomorrow night during Art after dark. The painting is acrylic on paper, and NOT framed, which makes it affordable, and you pick the framing!
Scrutinize
I was working on this along with Searching. Scrutiny is a synonym of the word search, and this Eye Wonder is in the same theme.
Searching
The news is filled with people searching for missing loved ones. I don’t want to imagine what they are going through. I am continuing on the Eye Wonder series, and this one is influenced by the uncertainties of searching.
Really special occasions
I worked on unique greeting cards through the winter. You can send it to a loved one, or mat and frame it for yourself! A selection is at Art on Depot in Waynesville.
Latex paints
Much of this painting was done with house paint samples. They are creamy and fun to work with.
Black corrugated plastic board
You know the yard signs for realtors and politicos? This is the same material, only black. The paint sticks okay, but scratches off easily. I’ve used latex paint samples from Lowes, dripped enamel, gold craft paint and some acrylics. This is a step in the ongoing Eye Wonder series.
