Broken Fishing Lines

This small painting has monofilament lines embedded into the surface.  This is a problem in our oceans.  On show at HCAC Small works show.broken-fishing-lines-blog

Portents

Some paintings leap onto the canvas and are done. Not this one. You may not see the struggle, but I know it is there.11-4-15blog

More monarchs

I do not usually work small, but the Haywood County Arts Council (HCAC) Small Small Works show is in Nov.& Dec. The painting that I showed in the Master Gardener show was 20″x16″. This one is 6″x6″. Change of scale, brushes, focus.

SOLD!

Thanks to Cathey at Art on Depot.  She sold two of my paintings today!  One was this Hummingbird. hummingbird2

Nature disturbed

I’ve been working on these.  The foam flower has given me the most trouble!  The praying mantis’s have been interesting.  One is on two canvases, the swath down the middle is the mounting board, not part of the painting.  The other one is on a panel.  So far, I struggle more with acrylic on canvas, than on panels.  But the canvases were just sitting there!Susan Livengood painting acrylic, canvas 7-23-14b 7-23-14c

Hand built

All of the old farm buildings were built by hand, with local materials.  Those materials have weathered and aged into beauty.  This painting of a potato barn is at Art on Depot, Waynesville.

Gallery Support

Thanks to Cathey Bolton, owner of Art on Depot, who represents me.  We popped into the gallery today because Donna, Gregg’s mom was visiting.  She believes it is the best gallery in Waynesville, and I agree!  Cathey made my day by asking to buy this painting of mine!  We are hoping for a good season of art sales through her gallery!Flowers in Fog

What is real?

We are surrounded by images, many of them electronic.  Do you stop and think about the story that a picture is telling?  Take time to ask what is real.
