Re-emergence continues

Trying to capture or glimpse a bit of my life, which took an unpleasant turn this week.  I removed the block at the top of the ladder, and added more bent rungs.  The fog is still too blue, I think.  I have found Zinc White is more subtle than Titanium.  But do I need subtle, or bold?

Re-emergence

I’ve been working on this large canvas for awhile.  46”x54”.  I’ve been thru a lot of illness and pain for the last 6 years, and now I am better.  I could tell you many things that are in here, but if explanation is necessary, I have not made a painting, yet.

Re-emergence

Climate Concern series- Melting

This series is exploring Yupo, a polypropelyne paper, that loves water.    Since we’ve had double normal rainfall so far this year, it’s fitting to explore very wet paint, and monoprints.  This is an off axis print, with more paint and pastels.

Another one of the prints

Yupo seems good for monoprints.  I did this series on problems from climate change.  This one is called Consequences.

Monoprints on Climate Change

Yupo is fun to work with.  I made three prints off the original, and then painted back into them.

Climate Change- Blight

Two pcs. are translucent and two are white.  I love the translucent ones held up to the light, but haven’t quite figured how to do that display.  Anyway, the first received my wrath,  I really laid into it, since I can’t affect who is annoying me.  There was so much paint that it was oozy.  Ever the miser, I tried my first monoprint, tho I guess technically they are tri_prints.

Storm’s Coming

I started this last summer.  I used silver Sharpie to highlight storm clouds,  but it bothered me.   I added more paint.

Storm’s Coming

More paint is better

This is a large canvas, 46″x54″.  I keep working on it.  Reemergence… Forrest doesn’t think it’s a word, but they make things up in crosswords, so I can too.  My new agenda for judging a work of art is an acronym that I picked up.  ICU for intensity, complexity and unity.

Progress on Blue Jay

I’m going to have to give up on gessoed paper.  It buckles too much, and I’m putting more energy into it.  I think  I’ll work on unstretched canvas.  I’ve done that, before, but not for a while.  Anyway, this is todays painting progress.

New Year, thank goodness!

I’m experimenting with Yupo paper, a polypropolene water media paper.  Mine are 9″x12″.  I used masking tape on the corner, to plywood.  I’ll have white corners when I’m finished.  May

Stormy Weather

be under a mat, or a feature ( when you’re hiding a mistake, call it a feature!)  This has been an incredibly wet season, and part of our yard has slid down the mountain.  What a big problem.  So maybe that’s why this piece looks stormy and foreboding.

Map

This is the beginning of a painting on paper.  Sometimes they are part of the process to a larger work.   I feel like this is the map that’s governing my life and our govt. now.  Chaotic, mindless, and just maybe, heading somewhere.
