I don’t have an axe to grind, at the moment. I’m in a group show in Sept. We picked an open-ended title “Pierce the Mundane”. We all work in different media, and want a broad umbrella. I’ve been working on these oak leaves which seem mundane.
troubles
We “updated our browser”. Now things don’t work as I expect. We shall see how this post goes. I’m starting to like acrylics, a lot. This beginning of oak leaves may have additions and corrections.
April Showers
I started on this in March, an observation of the coming of spring. With the storms of late, the dark block in the upper left is a reference to a QR code, or a thunderstorm.
April Showers
Even tho it isn’t April yet, the drips on this panel made me think of showers. The blocks interrupt the flow of the paint. Humans aren’t very successful at controlling nature, especially the weather.
Doesn’t Grow on Trees
Round has been interesting.
reuse
The front of this canvas was a failure. I’m working on abstraction on the back.
Circle
I need to come up with a snappy title for this piece. It is an interesting thing to work on. The squares grab the paint, and some squares are just painted.
Habitat Restore
This round piece of plywood was for sale at the Habitat store for $0.75. I couldn’t resist, but only got two. Now they’re gone. They came from speaker cabinets. I screwed it to the other board to work on it. The squares are mat board, to refer to QR codes. It isn’t taking the paint the way a flat surface would, so it’s hard to stay loose, when I keep running into edges. But as in oils, I do better when I keep adding paint. Now if I could only figure out how to get a pic on FB. I’m a Luddite on dial-up.
color fields
I’m still struggling w/ acrylics. This is an effort to loosen up.
Hybrid
I’m thinking about the impact of humanity on nature. We mess with it thru bioengineering, selective breeding and technological enhancements. The results are…mixed. The giraffe has intruded on my mind. I’ve used a QR code to “improve” the animal. Today is day one.
