Everybody has an opinion, just like everyone has a … nose. No matter what education and experience someone brings to a painting or work of art, it really should matter if they like it or not. But I can’t controll anyones aesthetics, except mine.
Stacked stone
The building my studio is in was the old Fines Creek Gym. The WPA and members of the community stacked the stone, probably using mules. There are no community members that could do that kind of work now. Each stone is interesting, I think.
oil paints are my favorite
I know lots of people work in acrylics, especially on a piece so large. I love the way the panels take the oil paint and the depth of colors. Many are colorists. I’m a coloroholic. I’m happy with these. I will hang them with a space between each one. Now I have to find a wall big enough to show them off. Any corporate types out there?
Gregg bought me two more panels yesterday!
abstract flowers
Are there measurable degrees of abstract -edness? I believe these paintings are more about paint than flowers.
Unique and universal
Those are principles from Joyce Carol Oates. As I added the map, I thought of the road that brought me here. Growing up in San Antonio, I NEVER would have imagined this life. Good thing, it’s better! This is the upper right portion.
9-9-09
I am enjoying people visiting my studio. There was a tour that came by today, some leadership group. After they left I was energized and started this little painting. It’s 8’x10″ and ‘tho you can’t tell yet, it’s Queen Anne’s Lace.
just ask Gregg
Gregg is fixing the windows in my studio. They are very old and he’s having to reattach sash weights to get them to open. It shows that the windows can be fixed, it just takes work.
three panels
The windows are to the right, so the left panel seems dark. I got the clock in today. A map is coming soon. Things that flowers don’t need.
fallish
Still working on the same two pieces.
back to painting
Decorating took a backseat today. I’m working on dripping paint, sorta like Pollock. This is part of the stonewall of Fines Creek gym. Also back to one of the panels.
