How does your garden grow?

This rock sticks  out of my garden.  The blue LED lights don’t mind the snow.  The mermaid fountain to the left is filled w/ snow.  We’re being snowed in for the third time this year.  1-7-11

Painting

We’ve been mostly snowed in since Christmas.  I’ve been doing some painting, mostly on older pieces that have percolated long enuf, thank you very much.  I started work on Crash again.  I’m so thankful that it was the car that was killed, and not Gregg and Callie!

River

I got a magnet with the comment “Life is not a destination, it’s a journey.”  Since I haven’t gotten any official notice that I’m an Artist, I just try to work everyday, and when I get to the end, there will be like the riverbank, a sign, but the river has run past.  Oh, and when I get the notification of Artist, I’ll let you know!River

hemmed in

The economy or lack there of, and the weather have me hemmed in.  I don’t like the feeling, but maybe I’m being forced to move in a direction.  It is sooo much easier for me to solve other peoples problems, but the ones on my plate need my attention.

This is the eye of “Marsha Broke Her Ankle”.  I love drawing big (large?).Eye

Enthusiasm

I love the blue agave as a starting place.  There is a quote in the Nov. Art Calendar by Charles Kingsley (1819-1875)  “We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about.”  Timely advice as I struggle financially.agave-divided

Marsha

No, she doesn’t look like this.  She broke her ankle.  Surgery, 9 pins, a plate, and six weeks off of that foot is going to be a trial.  Trying to work and pay for the hospital is going to be …more than a trial.  She has no insurance thanks to a preexisting condition.  This drawing is my take on the situation.  Also, it’s the first time I’ve drawn on vellum.  I really like it.  This is 3’x2′.  The roll is 36″ wide.  Gregg’s going to make me a drawing board from a sheet of plywood, so I can draw as large as 8’x3′.  I like drawing big, but then how to display it is a big problem.  I’m supposed to cover it w/ acrylic sheet, but it’s very expensive.  My approach is to pin it to the wall, but then it isn’t suitable for “collectors”.  I want to enter a drawing show at UNCA, but not spend a fortune, which I don’t have, anyway, on framing two large drawings.  Oh, well, my problems are nothing compared to Marsha’s.Marsha

Xeris

As I added more paint, I dropped some letters.  I live in a rain forest, so it might seem strange to do a series on Xeriscape.  I strongly believe that people need to pay attention to the plants that thrive in their region without insane irrigation.xeris

These are for…

Kim showed pottery & Nick showed paintings, but they couldn’t attend.  These will give them an idea of their display.host-gallery-doornick2host-kim-ross
